Washington - Senators Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.) and Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) released the following statement after the Senate voted to confirm Boston Municipal Court Judge Myong Joun to the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts:

“We are delighted that the Senate voted to confirm Judge Myong Joun to the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts. Today, Judge Joun is breaking barriers as the first Asian American man and first Korean American to serve on the District Court in Massachusetts. Judge Joun’s steadfast commitment to the rule of law and equal justice were shaped by his service as a member of the United States Army in the Massachusetts National Guard. His service on the Boston Municipal Court gives him a deep understanding of how the law affects those facing life’s most challenging circumstances. We are confident that he will bring an invaluable perspective to the federal bench that will shape our judiciary for generations to come.”
